Expert Tree Surgery & Services

Tree surgery is at the heart of what we do. Whether you need crown reduction to bring an overgrown tree back into shape, crown thinning to improve light and airflow, or deadwooding to remove hazardous branches, our experienced team has the skills to get the job done safely and professionally. We also carry out crown lifting, pollarding and formative pruning, always working to the needs of the individual tree and the surrounding environment.

Alongside tree surgery, we offer a full range of tree services including safe tree removal, stump grinding, tree health surveys and ongoing maintenance programmes – giving you a single, reliable team for all your tree care needs.

Trusted Tree Services Across North Devon

We’re based in North Devon and it’s the heartland of our work. From Barnstaple and Bideford to Ilfracombe and Braunton, we carry out tree surgery and tree services for residential gardens, rural properties and commercial sites across the region. North Devon’s exposed coastal conditions mean trees here can come under significant stress from wind loading and storm damage – something our team understands and works with regularly.

Working in Exmoor National Park

Exmoor’s ancient woodland and moorland landscape require a careful, considered approach to tree work. Many trees within the National Park are subject to Tree Preservation Orders or sit within conservation areas, meaning proper assessment and – where required – planning consent is essential before any work begins. Our team is experienced in working within these environments and can advise on what permissions may be needed. We treat every job on Exmoor with the care and respect the landscape deserves.

Tree Surgery on Dartmoor

Dartmoor presents its own unique challenges – remote locations, exposed moorland, and a landscape rich in protected habitats and heritage. Our team is well-practised in working across the moor, providing tree surgery, tree removal and ongoing maintenance for farms, estates and private properties throughout the area. As with Exmoor, we’re happy to help navigate any TPO or National Park planning requirements as part of our service.

Covering Exeter & the Surrounding Area

From Exeter city centre out to the surrounding villages, we provide the full range of tree services for both residential and commercial clients. Urban tree surgery brings its own considerations – proximity to buildings, access constraints and busy neighbourhoods – and our team has the skills and equipment to work safely and tidily in these environments.

FAQs

Do you offer emergency tree services in North Devon?

Yes – if you have a tree that has fallen, is leaning dangerously, or has been damaged in a storm, our team can respond quickly to make the situation safe. We cover North Devon and the surrounding areas, so get in touch as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to get to you promptly.

How do I know if my tree has a Tree Preservation Order on it?

The easiest way to check is via your local council’s planning portal, where TPOs are registered and publicly searchable. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you look into it before any work begins. This is particularly important for properties within or near Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, where additional restrictions may also apply.

What is the difference between crown reduction and crown thinning?

Crown reduction reduces the overall size of the tree by shortening the branches, making it smaller and more manageable while keeping its natural shape. Crown thinning removes selected branches from within the canopy to improve light and airflow without significantly changing the tree’s size. Our team will advise which is most appropriate for your tree during a free site visit.

What happens to the wood and waste after a tree is removed?

We clear all waste as part of our service. Timber can be cut into logs and left on site if you’d like to keep it, and brash and smaller material is chipped or removed. We always leave your property clean and tidy before we go – it’s something we take pride in on every job.

Are your tree surgeons fully qualified and insured?

Yes – our team is fully insured for all tree surgery and tree services work, giving you complete peace of mind. We are committed to ongoing training to ensure our team stays at the forefront of industry standards.
